EDA Business Development Fund

Overview
The Business Development Fund supports entrepreneurial initiatives and small businesses in Cook County. The program is designed to fund a variety of traditional and non-traditional requests specific to the individual business needs. This grant fund was designed to support projects that contribute to economic development and job creation, while encouraging private investment. Funding for the Business Development Fund is made available through the Cook County/Grand Marais Joint EDA, which is funded by an annual property tax levy. Grant funding and availability is limited to a yearly fund allocation approved by the Cook County Board of Commissioners.

Eligible Applicants
To apply for this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

The business must be located, or provide services in Cook County, Minnesota

The business must be actively registered as a business entity with the Minnesota Secretary of State.

The business must meet all applicable zoning and code requirements.

There can only be one active grant per business entity at a time.

Application
Applications are accepted year round and processed by the EDA's Grant Review Committee. Click here to view the application form. There is a checklist of items that are required to be submitted with the application form. Applicants must certify that they understand that submitting an application does not ensure grant funding. Applications are accepted via email at director@cookcounymneda.org, U.S. Mail at P.O. Box 597 in Grand Marais, or in person at the EDA office at 425 Hwy 61 West, Suite B, in Grand Marais.
