Taconite harbor redevelopment project

The Cook County/Grand Marais Joint Economic Development Authority (EDA) has launched a community planning effort to shape the future of Taconite Harbor. With support from a $200,000 Community Energy Transition Grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), the project will create a strategic redevelopment framework for the former Taconite Harbor Energy enter site in Schroeder Township, MN. 

 

This process is being led by the EDA and facilitated by Stantec, a global leader in sustainable planning and design. Together with residents and local partners, the project will explore opportunities to grow the tax base, create jobs, diversify the economy, and build long-term community resilience. ​

Advisory Committee Selected
The EDA has selected the 15-member Advisory Committee for the Taconite Harbor Strategic Planning process. The Committee represents a broad range of community perspectives and will meet regularly throughout the planning process to review educational material and help shape a shared vision for potential redevelopment of the Taconite Harbor site.
