Taconite harbor redevelopment project
A Community-Driven Vision for the Future
The Cook County/Grand Marais Joint Economic Development Authority (EDA) has launched a community planning effort to shape the future of Taconite Harbor. With support from a $200,000 Community Energy Transition Grant from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), the project will create a strategic redevelopment framework for the former Taconite Harbor Energy enter site in Schroeder Township, MN.
This process is being led by the EDA and facilitated by Stantec, a global leader in sustainable planning and design. Together with residents and local partners, the project will explore opportunities to grow the tax base, create jobs, diversify the economy, and build long-term community resilience.
